James B. Edwards

James (“Jamey”) B. Edwards has been working with Emergent Medical Associates since 1996 in a consulting capacity and officially joined the company as its Chief Executive Officer in March 2006. Mr. Edwards was responsible for designing and implementing EMA’s operational structure, strategic plan and physician support services and has presided over a period of rapid growth and the Company’s rise to prominence as the leading Emergency Physician Staffing and Management Company in Southern California.
Prior to joining EMA, he was a member of the Investment Banking Division of Lehman Brothers. Based in New York, he consummated transactions totaling more than $5 billion for leading companies including dj Orthopedics, InterActive Corp, Greenfield Online, Premier Retail Networks, Six Flags, Viasystems, YouBet.com, Sirius Satellite Radio and Google. Mr. Edwards has executed initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, restructurings and debt financings, as well as strategic, defense and M&A assignments for a broad range of Internet / New Media and Healthcare clients. While at Lehman, he served as captain of the Cornell Recruiting Team and was elected to the firm’s Global Advisory Council.
Mr. Edwards prior experience spans the consulting, investment banking and private equity industries with leading international companies including KPMG, U.S. Bank Libra & Caltius Private Equity. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for private companies including, Language Access Network, Noll Worldwide, Hilltop Slate and Direct2Pro and advises entrepreneurs and start-ups on operational, marketing and strategic initiatives. Mr. Edwards has been a speaker for the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds and led Investment Banking Workshops at Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. He is a Cornell Alumni Ambassador, Chair of the Johnson School Club of Southern California and a Member of the Board of the Cornell Club of Los Angeles. Mr. Edwards was also recognized as a semifinalist for the 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Mr. Edwards is a member of the Santa Monica Bay Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He also sits on the Board of the Santa Monica Chapter of the Red Cross.
Mr. Edwards graduated a Tradition Fellow from Cornell University in 1996 and received his MBA from Cornell's Johnson Graduate School of Management in 2003.
