Follow up visits to the Emergency Department

As part of your discharge or aftercare instructions, you may be directed back to the emergency department. The service you may need includes a wound check, suture removal, cast check or there may be a need to reexamine you to determine if an illness or problem has progressed or improved. This is to ensure that you have access to follow-up care if your primary care physician is unavailable, busy or you may not have selected one. Regardless for the reason for your follow up visit, it is recommended that you return early in the morning when the department is least busy. Because follow up visits are generally a lower priority, at busy times you may find the wait unusually long. Help us to help you. Return during those hours when we are most able to see you quickly and efficiently. Those hours are between 7am and 11am on any given day. Alternatively, you are always welcome to follow-up with the physician of your choice.
