2009 EMA/USC Administrative Fellowship in Emergency Medicine Awarded to Christopher R. Major, M.D.
March 19, 2009 (Los Angeles, CA) Emergent Medical Associates and the University of Southern California would like to congratulate Christopher Major, M.D., a graduating resident at LAC+USC Medical Center who has been awarded the 2009 EMA / USC Fellowship in Emergency Medicine Administration.
The Fellowship was created by Emergent Medical Associates (EMA) and the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California (USC) to address the need to develop leaders in emergency medicine to tackle the growing challenges facing the healthcare system.
In its 3rd year, prior graduates of the program have helped innovate new life saving protocols, develop new risk management techniques and become associate directors of leading community emergency departments.
“We are pleased to be able to partner with USC in providing a unique Fellowship opportunity to outstanding candidates from across the nation,” said Dr. Scott Brewster, Medical Director at EMA. “We are excited to name Dr. Major as the 2009 fellow. He is an exceptional addition to the fellowship and it is clear that he has all the attributes of a future physician leader in Emergency Medicine.”
“I feel honored to be the EMA/USC Emergency Medicine Administration Fellow,” said Dr. Major. “In the coming year I will have the chance to continue to hone my clinical skills while gaining a deeper insight into how to solve the issues our communities face in accessing quality and affordable emergency medicine.” He continued, “I couldn’t imagine a better team to learn from than the leadership of USC and EMA.”
Dr. Major received his Bachelor’s Degree from Emory University and his Doctorate of Medicine from Boston University. He completed a preliminary medicine internship at Harbor/UCLA. He is currently Resident Clinical Instructor at LAC+USC and his teaching experience at LAC+USC includes Grand Round Lectures on Electrolytes and Atrial Fibrillation, a chapter on Widened QRS-Complex Emergencies, and Senior Presenter at LAC+USC Emergency Medicine Journal Club. He is also an Instructor of Advanced Cardiac Life Support at the USC Center for Life Support Training. He has research experience in Neuronal Modeling and Nuclear Quadrupole Spectroscopy. His affiliations include the Emergency Medicine Resident’s Association, American College of Emergency Physicians, and American Association of Emergency Physicians.
