Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Awards Second Urgent Care Center Management Contract to Emergent Medical Associates
(January 1, 2010, Los Angeles, CA) The County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services (“LADHS”) has once again, entered into a strategic partnership with Emergent Medical Associates (“EMA”), a leading provider of physician staffing and practice management services, to provide Urgent Care Center services at Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center (HHHCHC).
The contract begins today, January 1, 2010. Dr. Lee R. Weiss has been named Medical Director, while Drs. Cesar A. Aristeiguieta and Walter J. “Ricky” Bush have been named Associate Medical Directors. EMA is uniquely positioned to provide a seamless transition at HHHCHC because of their clear understanding of the specific needs of the County and passion in “serving the underserved” by virtue of EMA’s recent experience at Martin Luther King, Jr. Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center (MLK-MACC).
“We are honored that LADHS decided to award us with a second contract,” stated Dr. Irv Edwards, Chairman and Founder of EMA. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with LADHS, and will start by bringing in a hand-picked group of committed and experienced physicians to Hubert Humphrey who value the delivery of superior quality care to the community.”
EMA will utilize a unique multi-disciplinary team of physicians, mid-level providers, management executives and business experts to serve HHHCHC. While implementing new standards, EMA will strive to increase per visit efficiency and decrease length of stays, increase patient satisfaction and provide a superior level of patient care. EMA has done this before successfully and is a “safe pair of hands” to manage the Urgent Care Center and serve the community on behalf of the County.
“Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center was in need of a change,” stated Angela Nossett, Medical Director of Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center. “EMA was the perfect fit. We have chosen EMA because of their reputation as one of the best UCC management companies in California. We have already seen first-hand how they manage and perform, and we are pleased to have a group that has such high standards and is constantly adapting to meet the ever changing needs of the communities.”
