Emergent Medical Associates Launches Emergency Care Services at Kula Hospital
Expanding Access to High-Quality, Patient-Centered Care in Maui
(August 1, 2025, Kula, HI) — Emergent Medical Associates (EMA), a leading provider of emergency department management services across the Western United States, is proud to announce the launch of its emergency care program at Kula Hospital, effective August 1, 2025. This ED will be EMA’s third with Maui Health in Hawaii, and aligns with the organization’s mission to bring efficient, high-quality emergency care to communities in need.
Through this collaboration, EMA will provide expert emergency medical services tailored to the unique needs of Kula Hospital and the Maui community. EMA’s experienced, board-certified emergency physicians will work closely with local clinical teams to improve patient flow, enhance outcomes, and reduce wait times—all while maintaining the hospital’s longstanding tradition of compassionate, community-based care.

About Kula Hospital
Founded in 1910 as a tuberculosis sanitorium, Kula Hospital is a critical access facility in upcountry Maui offering urgent and limited emergency care, short-stay acute and rehab services, imaging and lab support, and a family medicine clinic. It also includes a 105-bed long-term nursing facility focused on physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, as well as Hale Makamae, the state’s only licensed intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
