EMA’s Director Spotlight of the Quarter is Jordan Cohen, MD!Med School: University of California, Los Angeles
Residency: University of Illinois, Chicago
Dr. Jordan Cohen is EMA’s Regional Medical Director of San Diego and Medical Director at both Alvarado Hospital Medical Center and Palomar Medical Center Escondido. He describes himself as “tough but chewy” and jokes that he became a doctor because “my mother forced me”. When asked why he chose emergency medicine as his specialty, Dr. Cohen stated it was because of his determination to care for the sick and injured regardless of ability to pay. He states that his favorite part of being a medical director is working with and supporting his doctors. His favorite and most memorable parts of working for EMA include hearing Dr. Irv Edwards’ life stories during meetings and resuscitating a colleague during a presentation. As of late, Dr. Cohen has been working on the Palomar Medical Center Escondido transition.
Outside of work, Dr. Cohen spends time with his wife, two kids Jaden and Sorrel, and two dogs Prem and Kush. He enjoys jogging, snowboarding, reading, and attempting to surf and play guitar. His favorite TV shows are currently ER, Ozark, Fauda, Handmaid's Tale.
